There are no paid positions in the department. All firefighters including our fire chief are strictly volunteer positions as are all officers and directors serving on the board.

In the past, the majority of the funding for Bergheim Volunteer Fire Department has come from

• Fire Department fundraisers such as garage sales, annual benefit dinners accompanied by live and silent auctions, and raffles
• Donations from individuals in our coverage area
• Kendall County
• Donations from charitable foundations

Operational costs for the Bergheim VFD generally run between $80,000 - $120,000 per year depending on weather conditions, the number of volunteer firefighters, the number of runs made, the age of our vehicles, etc. 

No, Bergheim VFD does not charge for any services provided.
