As we welcome in the new year, the Bergheim Volunteer Fire Department (BVFD) would like to extend their wishes for a safe and Happy 2022 for all.

Here is some interesting information about your fire department’s service this past year and why we believe this community would be better served by an Emergency Services District with full-time firefighters at your service.

In 2021 our call numbers increased significantly. This includes Lift Assists, assisting people who have fallen or otherwise need assistance, but without injury; medical/ambulance service, where first responders are on scene to assist paramedics in rendering aide; motor vehicle accidents; and obviously for fires, both brush and structure fires and fire/carbon monoxide alarms.

2021 - 386 calls for service
2020 - 266 calls for service

That’s roughly a 45% increase in calls compared to the prior year. That increase was more than any percentage increase in past years. As our community grows, it is doubtful that this call volume will diminish anytime soon.

Here are a few items that BVFD wishes to accomplish in the year ahead

 ◦ Continued top-notch service for the Bergheim community and surrounding areas that we support with mutual aid.
 ◦ The Establishment of an Emergency Services District - with the primary goal of hiring full-time firefighters, building an additional new station, and equipping it with top-notch personnel and equipment.
 ◦ Recruitment of qualified firefighters and the retention & training of our volunteer firefighters

Each year begins with a blank slate, but already the month of January 2022 has been busy and revealed a continuing trend of nearly 40 calls! At the Bergheim VFD, we look forward to carving out a new path to serve the Bergheim community better, and we welcome your support in this endeavor.
